What is Acadia Content Adventures?

Our Journey

Acadia Content Solutions already serves clients across the country, but now we're going mobile to do something we've only ever dreamed of doing: traveling across the U.S. As the founder of ACS, I was born and raised in New England. My travel experience was limited to a brief stint near Tampa, Florida, a couple of days cruising off of NC in Bermuda, and the New Englander’s quintessential beach spot: Hampton Beach.

After honing my skills, gaining experience, and establishing my business, I finally felt confident enough to start doing things I was always too afraid to do- including traveling outside a 150-mile radius. After I met the love of my life, we planned to build our tiny house in Northern Maine and start homesteading. As we spent our summer in the North Woods hiking and exploring, we realized now was our best opportunity to do something really spectacular with our lives and our children.

Both my fiancée Mark and I (we’re engaged to be engaged) love being outdoors. We’re captivated by the remoteness and beauty of our country and want to see as much of it as possible. So we’re selling everything we don't need, buying an RV, and touring (almost) all the U.S. National Parks and must-see monuments. However, in starting our research we realized there weren't any guides or websites that truly answered all of our questions.

Our expertise in SEO content marketing gives us an opportunity to change that. We hope you'll find these pages as a useful resource if you're inspired to start planning your own National Parks tour. We’ll also be expanding Acadia Content Solutions to include content in the travel niche so we can better serve our clients’ needs. So if you're an agency, publication, or brand looking for a longer-term contract that follows us as we embark on this truly exciting journey, reach out via our quick contact form to discuss these opportunities further. In the meantime, here are a few quick details about what Acadia Content Adventures is going to cover:

Which National Parks We’re Visiting

We originally wanted to do all 63 National Parks. Unfortunately, since I have yet to conquer my fear of flying, we need to be able to drive to the parks. Here are the ones on our list:

Alaska

Arizona

Arkansas

California

Colorado

Florida

Kentucky

Indiana

Maine

Michigan

Minnesota

Missouri

Montana

Nevada

New Mexico

North Dakota

North Carolina

Ohio

Oregon

South Carolina

South Dakota

Texas

Utah

Virginia

Washington

West Virginia

Wyoming

These are the National Parks that we’ll save for when I’m finally brave enough to fly:

Alaska

These national parks are only accessible by bush plane:

American Samoa

California

Florida

Hawaii

Virgin Islands

We also have an entire list of monuments we want to see and other activities we want to do while on this trip. For instance, the kids requested we do a trip to Legoland, Mark wants to visit Circuit of the America's, and I want to stop in Amish Country and visit the Mall of America!

A Rough Timeline

We're still in the planning stages. A trip of this magnitude takes time if you want to do it right. Some people barrel through these parks and do 5+ parks in just a few days. That's not for us. We like to take our time and really soak up as much as we can. We plan to spend roughly 2 weeks at each park. This should give us plenty of time to manage ACS while traveling and do everything we want to do without feeling rushed.

Our current home rental expires in May 2025, so we’ll need to have our RV purchased and our belongings sold before then. We don't love the heat and don't want to be in Alaska during the winter, so we’ll start our trip with Acadia National Park in Maine. We are going to explore the state all summer since we call Maine home and plan to settle down here permanently once our tour is over. We won't head to our next location (Amish Country in Lancaster, PA) until September 2025.

From there, we’ve tentatively planned to spend two weeks at each park or spot. You’ll follow us along the way, but to give you a rough idea of how long this will take- it’s looking like we won't be ready to head home until November 2027.

Our Budget

We aren't really on a “budget” per se. We’re realistic in wanting to make the most of our trip and aren't afraid to spend to make that happen. But let’s take a look at a few of the basic financial aspects of this trip:

  • RV budget - $100,000-$200,000

  • Monthly campsites - $2,000-$2,500/month

  • Internet packages - $250/month

  • Auto insurance - $100/month

  • RV insurance - $100/month

  • Food budget - $1,000/month

  • Gas - No idea, whatever it takes lol

These will be more refined as we plan our trip further. There will be national park reservation fees, unexpected costs, toiletries, and other expenses that we’ll detail throughout our planning process and as we work our way through the tour.

Planning Our Itinerary

I don't know about you but I love a good itinerary. But I want to approach this a little more lackadaisical. Normally when we travel I like to check out all the shops and restaurants in the area in advance so we can check out the menus and such. But I don't want to be rigid in these plans. So here are the details I'm putting together for every stop:

  • Recommended time to visit

  • When we're staying

  • Where to stay

  • Cost of campsite

  • Notable attractions

  • Need a reservation?

  • Trails to visit

  • Other

I also plan to include how long it takes to get from one location to the next, expected weather temps (so we can avoid extreme weather conditions like hurricanes and tornadoes), and park entry fees, where applicable.

What’s Next?

This National Parks tour is a once-in-a-lifetime experience we will never forget. We feel incredibly proud and excited to be able to do this for ourselves and our children. Over the next couple of years you, our esteemed park aficionados, will be come with us as we put our Tour plans together, draft our itinerary, set off on our adventure, and come with us to all 56 National Parks on our list, plus a few detours along the way.

Until next time,

The Mason-Horacek Family, Acadia Content Adventures
