Boston Logan International Airport Review for First-Time Flyers
I was terrified to fly.
It wasn’t just nerves. It was full-body, 3 a.m. spiraling, “what if I ruin this entire trip before we even leave the ground” kind of fear.
We were flying out of Boston Logan (BOS) for the first time.
Me, my husband (who was an experienced flyer), two excited kids, and a very early morning flight.
Spoiler: It went way better than I expected.
We stayed at the Hilton connected to the terminal, which I highly recommend if you’re traveling with kids or have a brutally early or late departure time.
The hotel-to-gate commute was basically a five-minute shuttle ride, which gave us time to breathe before heading into the terminal.
Security was fast. I paid $15 extra for expedited screening through JetBlue, and we were through in under 10 minutes.
Every TSA agent we encountered was calm, helpful, and patient with the kids, something I was honestly worried about going into it.
The terminal itself was clean, organized, and surprisingly calm for a weekday morning before 6 a.m. There was space for the kids to stretch their legs, snack without being in the way, time to grab a quick Starbucks for the flight, and even sit and look out the window at the plane without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
For a first-time flyer with anxiety, this experience could’ve gone so differently.
But Boston Logan made it manageable, even… dare I say, peaceful.
What really sealed the deal, though, was what happened on the way home.
After we landed, we realized Ellie had left her Nightmare Before Christmas backpack at the gate in Boston. Inside it?
Her money. Her favorite pens. And a notebook filled with her zoo notes: what each animal ate, fun facts, and which ones made eye contact.
She was heartbroken.
We filed a lost and found report through Logan’s website, not expecting much. But within days, we got word: against all odds, they found it.
Yes, there was a fee to initiate the search and another to ship it back. But when it arrived?
Everything was inside. Every note. Every dollar.
That kind of follow-through from such a large airport honestly surprised me in the best way.
Logan turned what could’ve been a chaotic, overwhelming travel day into something manageable and even memorable.
And when it mattered most, they came through.
For first-time flyers, especially those flying with kids, Boston Logan set the bar high.
10/10 would do it again.
